Metro Railway has been observing ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ from September 16-30. During the Pakhwada, intensive cleaning and sanitization drives are being carried out at stations, trains, colonies, hospital and other railway establishments with special focus on plastic waste management.
A special cleanliness drive was conducted September 20 at Belgachia RPF post and barracks. As a part of this programme, massive cleanliness drive was undertaken at these places. Banners and posters have been put on display.

Another Swachhta drive was also conducted at Belgachia Quarter Complex the same day. During this drive, children’s park and housing complexes have been cleaned and garbage along with old and unused items were removed with proper sanitisation. Staff of the engineering department took part in this programme.
Metro Railway also conducted a vigilance awareness programme at Kumar Ashutosh Institution (Main) Boys’ at Dum Dum on September 20.
Subrata Dey, deputy chief vigilance officer, with the help of a slide show emphasised on making people aware about corruption. An extempore competition, with the theme ‘Corruption-free India for a Developed Nation’, was conducted among the school students. Prizes were distributed among the top three performers of this competition which teachers, staff and students attended.
