Kolkata hospital gets Rs 60 lakh grant from Japan government

The money has been used to procure advanced equipment; more than 2.31 lakh people will benefit annually

The Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Matri Bhavan (RKSMMB) in Kolkata has upgraded its medical facilities with a grant of US $73,562 from the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata.

The RKSMMB had procured fully automated immunology analyser, a haematology analyser, a bio-chemistry analyser, universal ventilator, and a multipurpose operation table with the grant. The aid was provided under the grant assistance for grassroots projects by the government of Japan. The upgraded section was inaugurated on Monday.

Nakagawa Koichi, consul-general of Japan in Kolkata, along with the representatives of the RKSMMB were present on the occasion. Pravrajika Atandraprana, assistant secretary of Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission; and Pravrajika Anirvanaprana, secretary; were present.

Expressing his gratitude to the Japan government, Pravrajika Atandraprana said these advanced medical equipment will help improve their services to the poor and underprivileged women. “More than two lakh people will be benefitted every year,” he added.

Nakagawa, consul general of the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata appreciated RKSMMB’s efforts. He also encouraged medical professionals in enhancing the overall health infrastructure and better accessibility of the latest technology to the vulnerable sections of society.
