A man riding a motorcycle was injured on the Parama flyover on Sunday morning by a kite string, police said.

The man riding along the flyover suffered cuts after the string got entangled to his face and slashed his nose and eyebrows.

The police identified the man as Sanjay Howladar, 29, a resident of New Town. He has been admitted at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital with multiple wounds on his face.

This was the second accident caused by kite strings on Parama flyover in the last three days.

On Friday, a woman officer of Park Street police station who was returning home on her scooter received a deep cut on her throat that needed multiple stitches and a plastic surgery.

Police have been making several attempts to stop people from flying kites in the vicinity of Parama flyover and the AJC Bose flyover but apparently little had actually changed on the ground.

Reports of motorcyclists and scooterists getting injured from kite strings are frequent and even fatal at times.

Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority had erected a wire fence along both the sides of the flyover across a one kilometre stretch but apparently that is not enough to stop such accidents on the other stretches of the flyover.
