The ICSE council has postponed the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) semester 1 exams of 2021-22, the council announced on Tuesday night.
“The CISCE has decided to postpone the ICSE and ISC Year 2021-22 Semester 1 Examinations due to reasons beyond our control. All stakeholders will be informed of the revised schedule of the Examinations in due course of time,” said a circular issued by Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.
The circular has been posted on the council’s website.
The ICSE and ISC semester 1 exams were to start on November 15.
The ICSE exams were to end on December 6 and the ISC exams on December 16.
The council had in a recent circular to the schools said the exams would be conducted online and the students could write the papers from school or home.
“While the preference would be to take the examination from the school, with the parent's consent being mandatory, the examination could also be taken from the candidates' home," the council had said in an earlier circular.
At several schools in Kolkata, students had opted to write the test from home.
In a separate circular sent to the school heads on Tuesday, the council has said all meetings related to the conduct of semester 1 exams have been cancelled.
The council has also said the training programmes for the proctors/buffer proctors/super proctors/buffer super proctors/IT support executives have been cancelled, too.
