An intern at a government medical college in the city lodged a complaint of molestation against three of her seniors in the college earlier this week.
Police have drawn an FIR against the three persons named by the woman based on the complaint letter.
Among the three named by the 26-year-old complainant, two were from the first-year postgraduate batch and one was from the second-year post-graduate batch.
“The woman has mentioned in the complaint that the accused men had made objectionable remarks with sexual connotations about her. She has also alleged that they had intentionally touched her in an inappropriate manner,” said an officer of the police station where the FIR has been lodged.
The police said they have started a case and shared the details of the allegations with the principal of the college.
A senior officer said a prayer has been made before court to record the complainant’s statement before a magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC. For a crime against a woman, the victim’s statement recorded before a magistrate acts as a primary evidence.
“An inquiry has been started. We will take feedback from the college before taking any action,” said an officer at Lalbazar.
Senior officials in the state health department said an internal probe would be conducted.
