The ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) semester 2 exams will start on April 25, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations announced on Thursday and released the schedule.
ICSE will end on May 20 and ISC on June 6. The timetables for both exams are available on the council’s website.
“The exams will be held offline,” Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the council, told The Telegraph.
The semester 1 examimations of both classes were held offline in November and December.
“The timetables (semester 2) have been prepared keeping in mind the dates of various competitive examinations,” Arathoon said in the circular addressed to the heads of the schools where students will appear in the ICSE and ISC exams.
The ISC timetable is prepared in a way that science subjects are scheduled earlier than humanities and commerce.
“Science students will finish off earlier. They will be free to appear in competitive exams,” Arathoon said.
He had earlier told The Telegraph that the council would announce the dates of the ICSE and ISC semester 2 exams after the announcement of the schedule of the national-level exams such as JEE Main to avoid clash of dates.
The JEE Main dates have been announced.
The ICSE exam will start with English language (English Paper 1) and the ISC exam with English literature (English Paper 2).
The ICSE exam will start at 11am and ISC at 2pm.
In both exams, students will get an additional 10 minutes to read the question papers.
Schools will put up the timetables on their notice boards and also share them with students through other means.
The council has already announced the results of the semester 1 exams, which had only multiple-choice questions.
The council had in February said the exams would be conducted in the last week of April and also advised schools not to conduct pre-board exams unless the syllabus had been thoroughly completed and revised.
