“Considering the present outbreak of the virus and the difficulties expressed by the heads of schools, the CISCE has decided to extend the last date for submission of the pending ISC (Class XII) Practical Examination Marks/ Project Work Marks/ SUPW grades.

The last date for submission of the Practical Examination/Project Work Marks and SUPW Grades on the Careers portal is now February 28, 2022, instead of January 31, 2022,” said Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) in a circular to principals on Wednesday.

“This is with reference to the conduct of the pending ISC Year 2022 Practical Examinations by the school, in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Fashion Designing, Indian Music Hindustani, Indian Music Carnatic, Western Music, Computer Science, Physical Education and Home Science. While most of the schools have been able to conduct these Examinations successfully and have also uploaded the marks on the CAREERS portal, few have expressed their inability in conducting these Practical Examinations at the Centre due to varied reasons related to the ongoing pandemic (Covid 19),” said the circular.

In the same circular the council has also extended the last date for submission of the ICSE project work marks and SUPW grades to February 28 instead of January 31.

In Bengal, schools have been shut down and in lots of schools several students are either down with the virus or have been quarantined.

Several schools in the city had conducted practical classes in December for ISC students after their Semester I exam were over. However, several institutions had planned to conduct the practical exams in January, after the winter vacation.

The shutting down of school for in-person classes because of the rise in Covid cases have upset the plans. Now the schools have return to online classes.

“The extension of the dates would give us more time to call students back to the campus for practical exams,” said a school principal.

The council had earlier given a window of four months to schools to complete the practical exams and submit the marks by February 28, but in early December it had reduced the time by a month.
