About a year ago, I had contacted one of the reputed elderly care companies mentioned in the article “Alone and under paid care”, published on July 5. I asked for 24-hour assistance at home to which the manager said someone would be sent after a few days.

I requested the ID proof of the person, along with a forwarding letter from the company but the manager stated they only send a welcome note via email and that no other documents or ID proof of the caregiver would be provided.

l Home care is absolutely necessary now-a-days. In Calcutta, this is especially true in Salt Lake and New Town where very many senior citizens live by themselves.

I request that contact numbers of such services are shared with us. Thanks to The Telegraph Salt Lake for this informative piece.

l Apropos the article “Traffic rejig to bridge Metro gaps”, published on June 14, I did not face any problem traveling down the said stretch, in front of Nicco Park, at peak hours on a Monday.

But the authorities had suggested that they might close both flanks of this road to expedite work. If this happens, I’m sure there will be congestion.

It was a surprise for me to see the My Garden column on May 31 feature Anuradha Pal of AD Block. Not only is Pal a lover of plants but she is also a renowned teacher of economics. I know Pal since 2001 but had lost touch. My memories got rekindled again after seeing this article.
