The maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded around 39.7°C in Kolkata. People were seen sipping flavoured drinks to keep themselves hydrated. French climate activist David Ligouy, who has travelled 5 continents and 30 countries continuously in the last 6 years in a solar power-driven quadricycle advocating climate change, has recently met Didier Talpain, French Consul General in Kolkata, and described his journey. The consul general congratulated him on his great endeavour and wished him in his follow-up journey. David wishes to travel through Bangladesh, Nepal, and China to be in Baku, Azerbaijan next November during COP 29

On Wednesday evening, actress Swastika Mukherjee joined the ‘Sandhi Puja’ at the Basanti Puja of Moulik Bari at Narendrapur. About 300 years back, Moulik Bari Basanti Puja was celebrated in Bangladesh. After the Partition of Bengal, this Puja was brought to West Bengal. The venue changed but rituals did not. Here fish is offered to the Goddess. The priest and Dhakis come from Dhaka and Faridpur every year as a part of the ritual. An uncommon sight, here Ganesh and Laxmi are placed on the left side of Durga
