Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the high court, hearing allegations of corruption in recruitments for schools, on Thursday said he had “definite information” that some high-ranking members of the school service commission (SSC) had helped their relations get jobs.“I am asking these members of the commission to get ready to face the consequences,” the judge said.
“I know a high-ranking member helped his sister get an appointment in a school as an assistant teacher. I have other information also. But I will not say anything more at present,” the judge said.
Justice Gangopadhyay also said some commission members illegally helped their acquaintances get Group D jobs in secondary schools.The judge has ordered CBI investigations into alleged irregularities in recruitment of teachers and other staff for government-aided schools.
On Tuesday, he had expressed displeasure over the progress of investigation by the central agency.
Appeal
The primary education board moved an appeal against an order by Justice Gangopadhyay to the CBI to set up a special investigation team to probe alleged illegal appointment of teachers for primary schools. High court sources said a division bench is likely to hear the appeal on Monday.
