IN HER ELEMENT: Writer, child-rights activist and actor Nandana Dev Sen uploaded this photograph on her Instagram handle on Thursday, May 5, with the caption: “As authors & #teachers we look for inventive, emotionally safe ways of making kids more aware of their world, including, at times, harder realities. Children are extremely resilient, and always keen to engage with the world. I believe it’s a mistake to shelter #children too much from complicated truths, but at the same time, it’s critical for #kidlit to feel safe, fun & imaginative, rather than worrying or preachy. I was thrilled by the flurry of great questions I got from the wonderful students of @sgaynorschool led by their brilliant and caring teachers
