The antique weapons that the Kolkata police handed over to the army included a 0.38 calibre Enfield pistol revolver, three khukris, a knife, a sword with scabbard and an iron helmet

These weapons were given to Lieutenant Colonel G. Bhattacharya, who had served in the Royal Indian Army during the Second World War, by a German soldier

These vestiges of the great war were in the care of Colonel Bhattacharya’s son, retired IAS officer P. Bhattacharya. He had donated the memorabilia to Kolkata police last year

Mandeep Singh Hooda, public relations officer in Kolkata for the defence ministry, told My Kolkata: “We will put these on display at the museum in Fort William by September 25. We are now in the process of tagging and preparing suitable cases for the items"
