Four arrested with cash in call centre raid at Lake Gardens

The call centre was jointly raided by officers of Lake police station and the anti-rowdy squad of the detective department

Four persons were arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly running a call centre in Lake Gardens from where they duped people by posing as representatives of an e-commerce company, police said.

The call centre was jointly raided by officers of Lake police station and the anti-rowdy squad of the detective department.

An officer said the raid was conducted following inputs from the special task force of Kolkata police. Sources said there was specific information that the accused had on them around Rs 9 lakh, which they had fraudulently earned.

The four have been identified as Ramesh Roy from Lake Gardens, Sreekant Das from Maheshtala, Justin Soumen Gomes from Haridevpur and Sanam Ali from Beniapukur.

Apart from the cash, two CPUs and two hard drives were seized.

Sources said cash haul from a call centre was unusual.
