Annual day is one of their most awaited activities at Warming Up Kids. The children’s fitness institute teaches karate, dance, and football to three to 13-year olds at CD Block in Salt Lake, Rangers Club on Mayo Road, and at South City International School.
The highlight of the annual day was football matches for beginners (under-five-year-olds), tweeners (under-sevens) muddy middle (under-10s), and the elites (under-14s).
The event was held at the NKDA football stadium and several special guests graced the occasion. There was Dimitri Petratos, who plays forward for Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Glan Peter Martins, defensive midfielder for Mohun Bagan Super Giant; former Indian footballer Abhijit Mondal and former Indian Football Association general secretary Joydeep Mukherjee. The guests were felicitated by the founders of the institute, Runa and Ashwini Kedia.
“Sports and games are an integral part of the education process. It helps build personality and teaches the importance of discipline,” said Mondal. “Such events help children explore their interest in sports and develop confidence, team spirit and inculcate a desire to learn new skills.”
“Once children are on the field, they get inspired to play more, and that encourages others to do the same. Perseverance, discipline, hard work, and a ‘never-give-up’ attitude is the secret to success in sports,” said Martins. “ I extend my best wishes to all these children. It was great to watch their enthusiasm.”
The young players kept the spectators on the edges of their seats. In turn, they were cheered by their parents and coaches from the enclosures.
“I have been waiting for this day and practised regularly for it,” said Caleb Kai Biswas, a kindergarten student who later received a medal and certificate for discipline. “I am very happy to get the award. It will motivate me to work harder and be more consistent.”
“We eagerly look forward to and gear up for the annual day each year,” said Ashwini Kedia of Warming UpKids. “The children display enthusiasm and a genuine spirit of sportsmanship and these attributes make the occasion a success.”
