The first centre of Ramakrishna Mission in Haryana was inaugurated in Sector 47 in Gurgaon on Wednesday. The Vivekananda Institute of Values will run value education programmes for teachers, students, parents and professionals.

Manohar Lal Khattar (extreme right), Haryana’s chief minister, inaugurated an auditorium at the centre. Senior monks of the order, including Swami Suvirananda, general secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, and devotees from Delhi and Gurgaon were present at the inauguration.

Swami Gautamananda and Swami Suvirananda cited teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. Both dwelled on the reality of spiritual life and compassionate service as a form of worship, and how these ideals were translated into action by Swami Vivekananda and his brother monks.

The Haryana chief minister recounted the role Swami Vivekananda played in arousing the consciousness of India and inspiring the country to march to a great destiny. The mandate, he said, is being fulfilled by the Ramakrishna Mission
