Fire breaks out at Howrah shop

There are no reports of any injury, the officials said

A fire broke out at a shop in Howrah Maidan area on Monday, officials said.

Four fire-tenders have been pressed into service to douse the flames, they said.

The cause of the blaze at the shop filled with bags and other accessories is yet to be ascertained, a fire brigade official said.

There are no reports of any injury, the officials added.

Fatal fall from terrace

A 34-year-old man died after falling from the terrace of a four-storey building at Ramlila Bagan on BT Road on Saturday. Police said Sagar Yadav, a resident of Sadar Bazar in Barrackpore, fell from the terrace of his friend's house while flying kites on Vishwakarma Puja. Yadav was declared dead at RG Kar hospital.

Clean-up day

The Indian Coast Guard regional headquarters North East conducted a coastal clean­up drive son Saturday across Bengal and Odisha on the occasion of International Coastal Clean-up Day. The clean-up drive was carried out at Haldia, Bakkhali, Diamond Harbour and Digha among other places.
