Fire at Maniktala almirah manufacturing factory

Three fire tenders doused the flames, no casualty reported

A major fire broke out in an abandoned almirah manufacturing unit in the Maniktala area of Kolkata on Sunday November 6 morning.

Three fire tenders were pressed into service to put off the fire. The flames were first spotted around 11am, a fire services officer said

The fire has been brought under control. There is no report of casualty or anyone being trapped inside the factory, he said.

The fire is likely to have been caused by a short circuit in the unit, he added.

Meter box fire

A fire broke out in a meter box on the ground floor of a building on Ramnath Pal Road in Watgunge on Saturday. A tender doused the flames in an hour. There were no casualties, police said.
