The 16 files that the enforcement directorate (ED) had allegedly seized from the office of Leaps and Bounds, a company in which Trinamul Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was director, were produced before Justice Tirthankar Ghosh of Calcutta High Court on Saturday.

After hearing both counsels, the judge held that all 16 files would be downloaded in the presence of ED officer Mithilesh Mishra and Kolkata police’s cyber crime department officer Amitava Sinha by Monday.

On Monday, the downloaded copies would be placed before the judge. Justice Ghosh will take a decision only after verifying those copies.

The order followed a petition by Banerjee challenging the legality of a recent order by Justice Amrita Sinha of the same court directing the ED to initiate its proceedings against Banerjee and Leaps and Bounds in connection with alleged corruption in school recruitments.

Following Justice Sinha’s order, the ED raided the company’s office and seized the files.

The agency claimed in a press release that Sujay Bhadra, one of the arrested accused and chief operation officer of Leaps and Bounds, had admitted during interrogation that the money collected from the job scam was deposited in the company’s accounts.
