Even after two years of Covid, many are still reluctant to mask up in public. The Telegraph spoke to some of them on Tuesday

A woman standing opposite the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital was without a mask. “I have the mask in my bag and will wear it before going to a crowded place,” she said.

Two of the three boys walking together along Chittaranjan Avenue were wearing masks improperly and the third had his in his hand. “Since we were talking, we loosened the masks a little,” said the boy on the extreme left.
A man was walking down a busy Bentinck Street without wearing a mask. “I have stepped out for a cup of tea. I will wear a mask after having tea,” he said.
A man without a mask was waiting for a bus at Old Court House Street. “I will wear the mask before boarding the bus,” he said.
