Enforcement Directorate on Monday searched offices of Leaps and Bounds Private Limited in New Alipore, Joka and Thakurpukur in connection with the agency’s probe into alleged irregularities in appointments in state-aided schools.
Sujay Krishna Bhadra, also known as Kalighater Kaku, who was arrested by ED in May, allegedly had links with Leaps and Bounds.
The agency has said in a chargesheet: “Bhadra stated he was one of the employees of M/s Leaps & Bounds, which is involved in the business of packaged drinking water having its business premises at 733, Block P New Alipore, Calcutta 700053 and manufacturing plant in Sanjua, Bibirhat, South 24-Parganas.”
The chargesheet also says Bhadra was CEO of the company and drew a monthly salary of Rs 75,000.
“We wanted to collect digital evidence from computers, laptops and hard disks of this company from its offices, including its headquarters in New Alipore,” an ED official said.
Leaps and Bounds came under the scanner after it appeared that there were a series of transactions between the company and SD Consultancy, a partnership firm of Bhadra, ED officials said.
An ED team also visited an apartment on Lee Road which Bhadra allegedly bought for Rs 2.5 crore and got it registered in the names of his daughter and son-in-law.
