An official of the New Town Kolkata Development Authority said the charges at these parking zones would be Rs 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 10 for two-wheelers.

The rates for trucks and other heavy vehicles will be based on a different slab. The NKDA is working on that, he added.

The area in front of Amity University, the stretch from Eco Space to Bodhicariya Senior Secondary School, the area near New Town Coffee House and Sankara Nethralaya will be paid parking zones.

In three of these parking zones around the Eco Space island bus stop, trucks and other heavy vehicles will been allowed to park, the officer said.

A senior NKDA official said they have received complaints from residents that drivers of vehicles ferrying students or patients as well as heavy vehicles park inside block lanes and roads causing inconvenience to the residents.
