A woman has alleged that her neighbour and his son molested her daughter and beat her up along with her husband for complaining to the mayor about an illegal construction in the area.
The woman said the alleged molestation and attack took place on Friday afternoon.
She said the neighbours allegedly attacked them again when she and her daughter were returning from Lake police station where they went to lodge a complaint.
The police said two separate cases have been drawn up based on the complaint lodged by the woman and that by the neighbour against her.
Calcutta mayor Firhad Hakim assured the family of all support.
“The accused would be brought to book,” Hakim, who had received the call from the husband during an earlier episode of the Talk toMayor programme, said on Saturday.
