More than 20 budding dancers were part of a two-day workshop on Mohiniyattam, a classical dance from Kerala, which started in the city on Saturday.

The workshop, titled Anweshaka, which in Sanskrit means “an artist’s quest”, is being hosted by Malavika Menon, a Mohiniyattam practitioner, teacher and choreographer.

“The aim is to give a bird’s eye view of this art form. It is not very popular in this part of the country. I am trying to make them understand how this form has evolved over the years,” said Menon.

The workshop, at the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, is being organised by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in association with Sadhana Mohiniyattam Kalari and Angamantra.
