The Jessore Road Gachh Bachao Committee held a press conference at the Kolkata Press Club on Saturday from 3pm and also organised a human chain at Dharmatala in front of the Lenin statue from 4pm. The committee demonstrated against the felling of more than 300 trees to construct five railway over bridges and widening a portion of the National Highway 112 near the India-Bangladesh border
