A man who is in charge of a school-cum-boarding where women are provided vocational training has been arrested for allegedly molesting a teacher in the school.
Police said they received a complaint from the 23-year-old woman who alleged that she had been molested by the founder-cum-in-charge of the institution.
“A case has been registered on the basis of a letter of complaint submitted by a woman aged 23 years. The founder-cum-in-charge of the institution has been booked over an allegation of inappropriate sexual behaviour without consent,” said a senior police officer.
The accused has been charged with Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with the offence of outrage of modesty of a woman. The charge, if proved before court, could lead to a maximum punishment of five years in jail.
The police said they had found purported electronic evidence supporting the complainant’s allegations. The accused will be produced before court on Thursday.
The woman has also lodged a complaint of extortion against two women staff of the institution, the police said.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday questioned a senior officer of Kolkata police in the multi-crore rupees coal pilferage case.
Senior ED officers said the name of the cop, who is an assistant commissioner, had surfaced while interrogating several IPS officers during the probe into alleged kickbacks in the coal pilferage case in several West Bengal districts.
“It was important to talk to the officer concerned and collect his statements aboutthe alleged transfer of money, received as kickbacks for the pilferage, to political bigwigs in Bengal,” said a source.
