Excuses are aplenty when it comes to not wearing a mask. The Telegraph asked several Kolkatans their reason to drop the virus shield. Here’s how some of them reacted:
A man was spotted on Park Street without a face mask on. He claimed he was waiting for an app cab that will arrive “any minute now”. “I have booked an app cab and I will wear my mask once I board the vehicle,” he told the photographer.
A two-wheeler rider in Chowringhee who was without a mask said it was not required since he was riding a two-wheeler. “I am alone, so I am not wearing a mask. When I will go to a crowded place I will wear one,” he said.
A man was out on a street in the Girish Park area without a mask. When the photographer approached him his answer was he is a local boy. “Ami parai achi (I am in the neighbourhood). Why would I need a mask here?” he said.
A woman in New Market was walking through a crowded stretch while speaking to another woman. Her mask rested on her chin. “I have the mask. I will pull it up when I am done talking,” she told the photographer.
A woman standing near the Simpark Mall in New Market had her mask resting on her chin. “I am wearing the mask. I just pulled it down. I will pull it up in a bit,” she told the photographer.
