Senior citizens and students of FE Block will get to take their Covid vaccine booster dose free of cost in their neighbourhood on Saturday. The block residents’ association has organised a vaccination camp at the local community hall in collaboration with the health department and the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation.

“We will give first, second or booster dose to the 60-plus. The 18 to 59 age group can take the first or the second shots. Both these will be Covishield. The 14 to 17-year-olds can take the first or the second dose of Covaxin,” an organiser said.

But booster doses will not be given to those aged 18 to 59 years at the camp as government regulations mandate only private health institutes to administer those on payment.

Though prior registration with the lane members is encouraged, the block will allow walk-ins too. “We want to boost vaccination. There is no ground for complacency,” said block secretary Pallav Bhattacharya.

The camp will take place from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

Other blocks need to approach the corporation to hold such camps, he said.
