The look: A Shyama Kali idol will be housed in the pandal
Fun funda: November 10- puja inauguration by actress Priyanka Sarkar besides MLA Sujit Bose and a host of councilors. November 11- performance by singer Rupankar and Hirak Rajar Deshe to be staged by Malhar Dance Academy. November 12- sit-and-draw in the morning, to be judged by artiste Ashis Rahman. November 13- music by Bollywood singer Vinod Rathod, who has sung for films like Shah Rukh Khan’s Baazigar and Sanjay Dutt’s Khalnayak. Local singers Sujata, Avik and Chandni Mukherjee will perform too. November 14- immersion procession with the bursting of green crackers.
BC Block
At: BB-BC Park
The look: In its 44th year, the puja will have a pandal modelled on the motifs of Lord Shiva’s third eye and the ashen lines drawn on his forehead. The concept will be conveyed through Chandernagore lights. The Pradip Rudra Pal idol will be ash-coloured.
Fun funda: November 11- performance by Bangla band Chandrabindoo. November 13- Suday and Sharmistha Debnath, participants of Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa to perform.
Balaka Salt Lake City
At: BD Park
The look: The pandal will be shaped like Chand Saudagar’s ship from the legend of Manasamangal Kavya. Pradip Rudra Pal has sculpted the idol.
Fun funda: November 11- inauguration to be followed by Shyamasangeet by Chandrova Bhattacharya. Animesh and Parthosarathi will also present fusion folk music. November 13- Singer M. Ram will present current Bengali and Hindi film numbers and Balaka member Anjan Banerjee will sing Kishore Kumar and Kumar Sanu numbers. November 14- Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa artistes Brishtilekha Nandini and Biplab Chakrabarty to perform.
BK Block
The look: The pandal is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The mandap will have models of Shivalinga and Nandi the bull while the walls will have fibre models of trishul, damroo etc. The idol will have matted hair, like Shiva. November 11- After the inauguration, Tollywood singer Mekhla Dasgupta will take stage. November 13- Singers Malhar and Rishika will perform. The immersion procession will start thereafter.
Maitri Sangha
At: Fish pond island next to BF Block swimming pool
The look: A 24ft Shayama Kali will be housed in a pandal shape like a mansion.
Fun funda: November 10 - inauguration by ministers Bobby Hakim and Chadndrima Bhattacharya , in presence of club president Sabyasachi Dutta. Music by Tushima Bhattacharya to follow. 13- Stebin Ben, Bollywood singer and of covers and singles like Dua karo and Thoda thoda pyar, will take stage.
Spectrum (BL Block youth wing)
At: BL Block The look: The pandal is shaped like an old thakurdalan in ruins. The Shyama Kali idol will be about 13ft tall.
Fun funda: Nov 11- music by Snigdhajit Bhowmik, who has sung the Alcoholia number in Hritik Roshan-starrer Vikram Vedha. November 12- 10am- NFS and FIFA video gaming contests; 3pm- treasure hunt; 5pm- quiz; 8pm- antakshari. November 13- 11am- sit-and-draw for five to 16-year-olds; 7pm- talent hunt for singing, dance, recitation and instrumental music (for those between five and 16 years); 7.30pm- recitation by Swati Bandyopadhyay, 8pm folk and film music by band Bhromor. Events are open to all and spot registrations will be accepted.
GC Block
At: GC Park The look: The pandal will be shaped like a swastika, with the face of Kali atop. Inside, will be hilly terrain. The artwork is being done by the residents themselves.
Fun funda: November 11 – inauguration, followed by cultural programmes by residents. November 13- retro ramp walk by 50 residents aged between 60 and 99 years. Singers Rupankar and Sutapa will take stage thereafter.
