The state council of higher secondary education said on Thursday that the Class XI practical exams (annual) had been postponed except in schools in Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts.
However, the practical exams that are scheduled before May 2 can be held.
The government had on Wednesday brought forward the start of the summer vacation at government and government-aided schools, except those in the hill districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong, to May 2, because of the ongoing heat spell.
“...I am directed to inform that the Council has decided to postpone the Class XI Practical Examination (Annual) except for the schools located in the hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts. However, the schools from all areas may conduct practical examinations before 2nd of May, 2022, if prescheduled…,” said a notification from Tapas Kumar Mukherjee, secretary in charge of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education on Thursday issued a notification saying the schedule of first summative evaluation would be announced later. The first summative evaluation in government and government-aided schools were scheduled from May 2 for Classes I to X.
The notification, however, clarified that the "existing academic schedule” would continue in Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
