“There will be 18 speciality clinics, all of which will treat autoimmune diseases. Some of the speciality clinics will be for autoimmune diseases related to lungs, orthopaedics and skin,” said Parthajit Das, a consultant rheumatologist and director of the new institute.

“There will be a primary immunodeficiency clinic. This clinic will be for people
with suppressed immunity who suffer repeated infections and hospitalisations,” said Das.

Somnath Chatterjee, one of the founder directors of Suraksha Diagnostics, said Suraksha was funding the setting up of the institute.

“Suraksha is funding the institute. For now, there will be OPD clinics only though there are plans to set up a hospital,” he said.

The founders of the institute also plan to create patient support groups for some of the common disorders.
