CBSE Class XII term-1 results sent to Kolkata schools

It was a rerun of last Saturday many educational institutes were unable to communicate the marks to the students

The CBSE Class XII term-1 results were published on Saturday evening but a section of students in the city did not know how they had fared till late at night.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has sent a soft copy of the results to schools and the schools are expected to inform students their marks in the in-person exams held in December.

Individual students’ performance will not be put up on the website, a circular from the board said.

Several schools that The Telegraph spoke to late on Saturday said they were yet to “study” and “anaylse” the performance of students and would inform them only next week. The results were sent to schools around 6.30pm.

It was a rerun of last Saturday when the Class X term-1 results were published by the board but many schools were unable to communicate the marks to the students.

Some schools that have a large number of students said it would be difficult to announce the results so quickly.

South Point, Shri Shikshayatan School, DPS Ruby Park are some of the schools who did not inform students the results on Saturday and said they would “soon”.

South Point will have an online meeting with parents on Monday where the results will be informed.

DPS Ruby Park will inform students the results on campus next week. “We have a large number of students. We will inform them after going through the entire list,” said principal Joyoti Chaudhuri.

Mahadevi Birla World Academy and Lakshmipat Singhania Academy informed the students’ their marks on Saturday evening.

“We have put up the score sheet on the website. We decided to do so because Class XII is a crucial exam and we did not want students to be stressed because they have their term-II exam coming up,” said Anjana Saha, the principal of Mahadevi Birla World Academy.

Sushila Birla Girls’ School has shared the results with respective class teachers who are informing the marks to students who are calling them. The results will be formally shared with students on Monday.

The term-1 exam had only multiple-choice questions. The board has informed the schools the marks in theory papers, the CBSE circular said.

The term-1 exam was of 35 or 40 marks depending on the subject and 10 or 15 marks is of practical and internal assessment. The term-II exams will start in the last week of April.

“Being Term-I only, no mark sheet cum passing certificate is being issued now. Only one mark sheet and passing certificate will be issued after the Term-II examination to have parity with the previous results. This will comprise of only total marks of both the terms as per weightage decided of Term-I and Term-II examinations,” the circular said.
