Ashok Banerjee, an alumnus of University of Calcutta and former faculty of finance at IIM Calcutta has now taken charge of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Udaipur.
Banerjee took over the charge of the new director at IIM Udaipur, succeeding Janat Shah, who has helmed the institute for 11 years, since its inception in 2011.
Banerjee is a chartered accountant with 25 years of experience and holds an MCom degree from University of Calcutta and a PhD from Rajasthan University.
Banerjee has served as faculty for finance at the IIM Calcutta, for 18 years. As a dean, he was instrumental in setting up the IIM Calcutta Innovation Park. He also has more than 45 publications under his name. His research interests are in high-frequency finance, fintech, and sentiment analysis.
“Banerjee’s expertise in the fields of financial time series and operational risk management is both rich and unique,” stated an IIM Udaipur official.
He was the dean of new initiatives and external relations at IIM Calcutta from 2012 to 2015. Prior to joining IIM Calcutta, he was a professor at IIM Lucknow.
“It is with a sense of pride and happiness that I join IIM Udaipur’s remarkable journey as the director. I look forward to the support of the board and all stakeholders as we take the Institute further ahead,” Banerjee said.
