High Court rejects Group D job aspirants' plea for holding rally on Abhishek Banerjee's street

Justice Jay Sengupta allowed the rally on SP Mukherjee Road instead

Justice Jay Sengupta of the high court on Wednesday turned down a petition by candidates for Group D jobs in schools asking for permission to hold a rally through Harish Mukherjee Road on September 27 and allowed it on SP Mukherjee Road instead.

The judge asked police to give the necessary permission to the petitioners. The police had earlier rejected their application because of the route, prompting them to move court.

The rally should start at 1pm on September 27 from the Theatre Road-AJC Bose Road crossing and end at the Hazra crossing, through the Exide crossing and SP Mukherjee Road, the judge said.

This is not the first time job applicants protesting alleged irregularities in recruitment in schools have wanted to hold a rally on Harish Mukherjee Road. Trinamul leader Abhishek Banerjee's residents is on the road.
