Justice Biswajit Basu of Calcutta High Court on Tuesday issued a stay till Thursday on the process of recruiting work education teachers for upper primary classes (VI to VIII).
The judge asked the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) to file an affidavit stating details about the process they had followed to select candidates for 750 vacant posts for work education teacher.
The judge also asked the WBSSC to produce the documents related to the selection process.
The counselling of the selected candidates ended on November 11.
“The court is not staying the process as if irregularities were found in it. Petitions came to my court from job aspirants claiming some candidates had received calls from the WBSSC to appear in the counselling even though they scored lower marks,” Justice Basu said.
The judge said: “I just want to be sure whether any irregularity has taken place while selecting candidates.”
The case will be heard again on November 17. That day the SSC has to produce the documents the judge has sought.
At the end of the hearing, the judge said: “I passed the order only to avoid complexities in the future.”
