“We thank the CA Block Citizens Association for organising this tournament which was full of excitement. We particularly thank Mridul Murarka, Amrit Sinha and Joydeep Ghosh who worked hard to make the event successful and also entertaining,” said Amrit Sinha of the winning team.

“Our team was tired and, we are not professionals either. The slushy conditions on the ground made it difficult for us to give 100 per cent,” said Jiko (Souradip Basu), captain of the runners-up team. A number of residents of CA Block as well as a few from outside the block had gathered to watch the tournament, which consisted of eight-minute halves with a two-minute break.

Not just goals and trophies, also on offer was lunch for all those who had gathered at the ground at BA-CA Park to play or watch the matches. “We look forward to organising such an event, which essentially illustrates the unity and community spirit among our block residents, on a bigger scale with larger participation,” said Jibadip Bhaduri, a governing body member of the CA Block Citizens’ Association.
