At least seven personnel from Bidhannagar commissionerate, including commissioner Supratim Sarkar, are down with Covid-19, a senior officer of the commissionerate said. According to the officer, Sarkar is in home isolation. None of the policemen had to be admitted to hospital till Wednesday evening.
Another officer said a major section of those, who had tested positive, were from the traffic wing.
“For those who stay in barracks we have made arrangements for them to self isolate themselves there. All of the personnel, who have tested positive, are being checked upon regularly by doctors,” the officer said.
Apart from this, the police have requested the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation to sanitise all their buildings, including police stations and barracks.
“Earlier, we did carry out a sanitisation drive. Now, we have placed a request with the municipal corporation to carry out another drive for us,” said the officer.
An official of the municipal corporation said they would carry out a sanitisation drive at all police stations under Bidhannagar commissionerate on Thursday.
