A 32-year-old man from Bhangar who works for a private bank was arrested for allegedly duping a senior citizen of more than Rs 37 lakh by promising him high returns on “investments in the share market”, police said.
Subhankar Pande was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the 79-year old resident of Dum Dum.
According to a police officer, Pande had met the elderly man at the airport branch of the private bank where he was posted.
“Pande developed a cordial relationship with the senior citizen and eventually managed to convince him that he could earn huge returns by investing in the share market through him,” the officer said.
Pande had made him transfer Rs 37 lakh to two accounts.
Pande was produced in a court in Salt Lake that remanded in police custody.
