The scale of corruption in the recruitment case is as scary as the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York in 2001, the CBI counsel told Calcutta High Court on Tuesday as a judge came down on the agency for being slow.
“The corruption in the recruitment of teachers in primary schools in Bengal on the basis of 2014 teachers eligibility test (TET) is no less scary than the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center,” the lawyer told Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay.
The CBI counsel said the agency had collected “mammoth evidence” in the course of its probe into the alleged corruption, which it will place before court on September 19.
The comments followed a rebuke from the judge, who said a year had passed since the probe was handed over to the CBI. “Till date, the agency could neither find out the kingpin of the crime nor place any evidence,” justice Gangopadhyay said.
