According to the Met forecast, the impact on Kolkata is likely to be restricted to a marginal rise in temperature and a partially cloudy sky from December 8 to 10.

According to an IMD bulletin, the depression was over southeast Bay of Bengal, around 1020km from Chennai, around 5.30pm on Tuesday.

“It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify further gradually into a cyclonic storm around December 7 evening and reach southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts by December 8,” the bulletin said.

Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are likely to get heavy rain and winds.
