The authorities of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission have decided to close Mother’s House, popularly known as Sri Sri Mayer Bari, in Bagbazar, for visitors from Monday as a precaution against the surge in Covid cases.
The closure will be for an indefinite period. A call to re-open will be taken at a suitable time after taking stock of the Covid situation, the authorities said.
Sri Sarada Devi, wife of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, had stayed in the house for 11 years from 1909 to 1920. Around 300 visitors turn up every day at Mother’s House, in Gopal Neogy Lane.
Kalighat temple
The sanctum sanctorum of the Kali temple will remain shut for visitors from January 11 to 26, said temple authorities. “Only sevayats and paladars can enter the sanctorum for daily rituals,” an official said.
