The West Bengal government has appointed Anil Verma as the additional chief secretary of the agriculture marketing department following the superannuation of A Subbiah on May 31.
Verma will, however, continue as the chairman of the West Bengal Valuation Board, according to an official notification.
Among other appointments, Devi Prasad Karnam was named as the senior special secretary, Finance Department. Karnam will also continue as the managing director of the West Bengal Essential Commodities Supply Corporation Limited.
Earlier, the state government had appointed Rupak Kumar Dutta, former director general of police of Karnataka and a special director of CBI, as an adviser to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on security and law and order, including in the border areas.
