Actors Priyanka Sarkar and Arjun Chakraborty were injured while shooting for a television web series near Eco Park when a motorcyclist who was part of the crew apparently lost control and hit them on Friday night.
Priyanka and Arjun lost balance and fell as a result of the impact, an officer said.
X-ray reports showed Priyanka — known for her roles in movies like Chirodini Tumi je Amar and Bornoporichoy — had fractured a leg.
She underwent a surgery on Saturday. Hospital officials told Metro that the actress had fractured the tibia in her right leg.
“Two plates have been inserted and a bone grafting has been done on the patient today. The patient is expected to be in a condition to get discharged in two days,” said Bishal Bhagat, the doctor who operated on Priyanka.
Arjun — whose latest movie Avijatrik hit theatres on Friday — suffered minor injuries, the police said.
They were initially taken to a private hospital in the locality from where Priyanka was later shifted.
The accident happened around 11.30pm on a road off Eco Park where the shooting was in progress.
The police said a biker who was supposed to harass the actress as part of the shoot apparently lost control of the two-wheeler and hit her.
The biker, who cops suspect was intoxicated, had fled and was arrested on Saturday.
Senior officers of Bidhannagar police said it appeared to be a case of drink driving.
“It is not possible for police to check if someone turns up intoxicated for a shoot. Shooting crews should have some checking mechanism to avert such incidents,” said an officer.
