Two accidents took place on successive days on the service road in front of gate number 2 and 3 of Balaka Abasan in Action Area I earlier this week.

Residents allege that two consecutive speed breakers on the stretch are difficult to spot in the dark. “Even if four-wheelers can negotiate them, two-wheelers lose balance,” said Tusarkanti Sasmal, secretary of Rajhid Cooperative Housing Society, the residents’ welfare association of Balaka Abasan.

After The Telegraph Salt Lake reported on the unmarked bumpers on February 2, the police had marked them with stickers and white paint. But both have worn off.

The speedbreakers had been built on request from residents after the inauguration of the Kestopur bridge on June 8 last year as vehicles used to pick up speed while passing by the complex.

Informed by The Telegraph Salt Lake, an NKDA official has promised to look into the situation.
