The competition will start in Delhi on January 29.

The subsequent rounds (round 2 onwards) will be in Kolkata. The final round and closing ceremony will be on February 4.

Each of the 60 countries will have a participant and a mentor representing their country. “It is a place for young chefs from across the world to come together, share their recipes and diversity, forge friendships and learn from each other,” said Suborno Bose, chief mentor IIHM and chairman Young Chef Olympiad.

The IIHM Young Chef Olympiad 2023 is a joint initiative of the International Hospitality Council UK and the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM).

The students of IIHM are the chief organisers who take care of the logistics, the travel of the contestants, thus preparing for handling an international event even in future, said Bose.

On Wednesday, the Young Chef Olympiad was flagged off with a country draw where groups were formed. The mascot — the Tiger Chef — was also released.
