40-year-old Belgachhia woman dies of dengue

She was admitted to RG Kar hospital

A 40-year-old woman passed away from dengue at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday.

“The woman tested positive for dengue about two or three days back. She suddenly felt unwell last night when she was admitted to RG Kar hospital. She passed away on Tuesday afternoon,” said Debika Chakraborty, the councillor of Ward 3.

She said that the woman lived in the Belgachhia Housing Estate on Raja Manindra Road. “The woman was admitted at 1.10am on Tuesday. She passed away at 3.10pm on Tuesday. She had two comorbidties — diabetes and hyperthyroidism.

The woman had vomited before she was brought to the hospital,” said an official of the hospital.

Elderly run over

An 80-year-old woman who lived on a footpath on Gariahat Road was hit by a vehicle early on Tuesday and then run over by another private car, causing her death, police said. Renuka Mondal was declared dead at SSKM Hospital.
