A 34-year-old man who lived in a 14th-floor apartment at Tata Eden Court Complex in New Town was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood in front of the building on Thursday afternoon, police said.
He was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.
A senior officer of the Bidhannagar commissionerate said guards who were alerted by a loud noise found the man lying in a pool of blood outside one of the towers of the Tata Eden Court Complex.
The guards raised an alarm. The man, who worked in a multinational company, was taken to a private hospital nearby, where doctors declared him dead.
“He suffered a massive head injury and his back was twisted out of shape. We took him to hospital as fast as we could but the doctors could not revive him,” said a resident of the housing complex.
An officer of the Bidhannagar commissionerate said the man lived with his mother. He had lost his father recently.
“Neighbours said the victim had been extremely reclusive since his father’s death. He would rarely interact with anyone. His mother is in a state of shock. We have started a case of unnatural death and are investigating the case from all angles,” the officer said.
