The din surrounding the launch of Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro sort of dampened the moment for another product — Vivo TWS 2 ANC. Of course, this is another pair of wireless audio cans that may look as different from those offered by rival brands as two slabs of butter. Yet, there are differences and some of them may make it worth your wallet.

The idea is to offer a good amount of bass, decent active noise cancellation and more-than-enough battery life. TWS 2 ANC checks all the boxes. Winning the earbuds brownie points are the supported list of codec — aptX, AAC and SBC. Technically, Adaptive High Definition codec allows the device to receive high quality audio from your Bluetooth device; there’s better transmission. But one thing to remember, these days aptX is found in more and more entry-level devices because aptX HD is becoming more popular on the higher end. Nonetheless, these audio cans will keep you happy, especially if you are looking for bass. The device is equipped with 12.2mm drivers to deliver punchier bass, and there is DeepX 2.0 stereo sound for clear voice. All this makes a difference to the overall quality. Listening to Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale is as enjoyable as Harry Styles’s Harry’s House, though the music explored by the two is diametrically opposite.

The other feature worth talking about is active noise cancellation (there are three stages to it) or cutting off outside noises. The whirling of fans, humming of refrigerators or even quite a bit of honking gets tackled. What about the drill of a construction worker? I can hear it but for the price I am paying for the earbuds, it’s acceptable. Plus, you don’t get that vacuum-y feel, which can be irritating. As far as microphone quality goes, it’s decent and you should be able to pick up every word during a call.

In the battery department, you will be getting roughly seven hours or four hours with ANC on but to achieve it you need to keep volume at around 50-60 per cent. With the charging case, you can get up to 29 hours. And there is multipoint connection feature to simultaneously connect to two devices.

What could have been better is the glossy feel. Storing it in one’s trouser pocket ensures enough lint gathers on the case, which can also pick up a lot of smudges. Apart from this quibble, I enjoyed using the earbuds with the Vivo X80 Pro. It’s a capable and affordable set of audio cans.
