Detox smoothies

Going on a cleanse is a good idea after after five no-rule days because it fills your system with a host of nutrients and antioxidants while simultaneously giving it a break from working overtime. The most beneficial smoothies contain ingredients that are high in protein, vitamins, minerals and healthy fats. So make sure your smoothies feature yoghurt, roasted nuts, green leafy veggies, coconut milk and fruits.

Healthy salads

Ashtami khichudi, Navami mangsho and Dashami sweet overdose? A detox salad is what you need. Make sure you get the pairing right. Skip the expensive dressings and ‘organic’ veggies and instead whip up a salad using local ingredients. It’s more accessible and affordable. A common rule of thumb for a tasty salad bowl is to add instead of subtract. So, throw in different types of dals and sprouts, shredded chicken, pork sausages and anything else to vitalize the salad.

The past week saw a number of glamourous make-up looks which undoubtedly took a toll on your skin. Amp up the skincare with a home facial featuring an all-natural face pack — it’s super easy to put together and works wonders. Try a multani mitti mask or an aloe vera one, they work on all skin types.

Mani-pedi

A quick mani-pedi is definitely on the cards post-Puja. Your feet are in dire need of it and who ever says no to pretty fingers? A DIY mani-pedi can be the quickest way to rejuvenate and there’s something for everyone (irrespective of how low-maintenance you are!) — from gel lacquers, soak-off polish, poly gels, dip powder, nail stickers or even nail bling.

Workout

A quick cardio routine will help you work off all the mishti, malai and mangsho. You can hit your local gym or set up something at home. If you’re a beginner, go slow with an easy 10-minute session but if you’re a regular at the gym, pack in the cardio with a longer workout.
