Leaving a conversation behind is not easy on Twitter. It may become possible. Writer and researcher Jane Manchun Wong recently tweeted an apparent screenshot of a “leave this conversation” feature. It’s an interesting one and is different from the existing “mute this conversation” feature.

The shared screenshot shows that the feature can untag your username from a Twitter conversation, prevent people from mentioning you in the conversation again, and stop you from receiving notifications about it. With the existing “mute this conversation”, there is the option to turn off notifications for a thread you are mentioned in.

According to The Verge, leaving a conversation will make your Twitter handle appear as plain text in the tweet where you’re mentioned, rather than the hyperlink someone would normally see if they tap your Twitter handle.

Twitter continues to add new features to make the platform friendly. There are several checks already in place, like limiting replies. In other Twitter news, the company is rolling out pinned DMs, a feature that was previously only available to Twitter Blue subscribers. On the iOS app, you can swipe to the side on a conversation to reveal a pin, and if you tap that, the conversation will be moved to a new “Pinned conversations” section at the top of your DM inbox.
