Twitter continues to be on a spree to offer new features and the latest may involve “co-authoring” a tweet. You know... “collab”, which is a very loaded word in 2022. The feature is being explored and may not make the final cut.
The feature that is in the works involves two accounts co-authoring a tweet, according to TechCrunch. App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi has been posting about the feature for sometime but now there is more information. In a “co-authored” tweet, both people’s Twitter handles and names will appear at the top of the tweet above its content.
Consider this to be an extension of “collab” on Instagram, which has been a successful feature to reach a wider audience. If the feature does come alive on Twitter, will help users with brand partnerships and influencer campaigns.

Before co-authoring a tweet, the user will need to invite other users to collaborate as long as their account is public and you both follow one another on the platform. Plus, the other “author” must accept your invite for the feature to work. All this will show that there is shared ownership and responsibility.
Twitter already allows users to tag other accounts in a tweet but that doesn’t show in the tagged person’s timeline. A co-authored tweet will have the mention of both accounts.
If the move becomes a reality then it will be a good addition to the platform which already has Twitter Spaces, a live audio chatroom.
